Make 2018 the Year of Photography
2017 is almost done and dusted, 2018 is just around the corner; make a new year’s resolution to make it the year of photography!
2017 is almost in the history books. Whether it goes down as the year you finally quit smoking or the year you finally started going to the gym, we hope that the year was a memorable one for you.
With a new year on the horizon, we have an unusual proposition for you; make it the year of photography! Photography is an art form that never goes out of style and is probably one of the most rewarding and satisfying hobbies you can take up. Here’s how you can make 2018 the year of photography.
Get a Camera:
Let’s start with the basics; the first thing you need before you can embark on your journey of becoming an expert photographer is a camera. The astronomically high prices of the latest Canon and Nikon cameras are enough to deter most photo enthusiasts. What people don’t realize is that you don’t need the best instrument to make meaningful art!
Get a camera that you can easily afford and start practicing. Doesn’t matter if you take a picture of your cat or a national monument; just keep clicking away. You’ll improve loads without even realizing it!
Go Out More:
Another reason why most aspiring photographers quit photography after a little while is that they run out of subjects to capture. It’s completely understandable for people to grow tired of capturing a photograph of the same object again and again.
To prevent this from happening, we highly encourage you to go out more. Go to public parks and take pictures of the people there. Go to the mountainside and grab a picture of two of the sunset. Hit the beach and instead of riding the waves, take pictures of the people there! The possibilities are endless, you just need to go out more!
Don’t Focus on Likes:
By far the biggest reason why people quit photography after a little while is because they don’t receive enough likes on Facebook or Instagram. For any true artist, social media really is the devil! Avoid it to the best of your ability and you’ll do your art a massive favor.
While we’re on the topic of social media, don’t compare yourself to others. Your professional photographer friends might be getting thousands of likes on their posts but don’t forget that they’ve been doing it longer too.
Just because their pictures get more likes doesn’t mean your photography is lacking or that you’ll never be as good as them. Just focus on honing your skills and don’t pay much attention to social media noise!
Master a Photo Editing Software:
Modern photography is complemented by photo editing software like Photoshop and Lightroom, etc. To take your pictures to the next level, you’ll need to master a photo editing software.
While this may seem like a gargantuan task to seem, it’s not as hard as you think. Get a copy of the software you like and start playing with your pictures on it. Experiment with everything to see what works and what doesn’t. Keep a notebook with you to make notes of everything that works so that the next time you have edit a picture you have pointers on what to do!
Whether you want to improve your photography or master a photo editing software, we at Improve Your Photography Online would love to help!
